Welcome to LA-LA Land!

When I was living in Southern California in the 80's, the hare krishna's ruled the streets of LA with their shaved heads, white robes, drum beating and rhythmic chanting. Times have changed in LA, especially downtown, where there's renewed life with new swanky hotels and restaurants propped up in formerly abandoned buildings and surface lots. I couldn't resist the temptation to hit the LA Live complex to
witness the hundreds of anime and manga convention goers in town for the Anime Expo 2010. These anime fanatics are the millennial version of the Trekkies. I'm pretty naive when it comes to anime and manga culture, but they sure are a lot more interesting to watch and photograph than the hare krishna's. Amen to that.
