Philippine culture is alive and well in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Last week, the Asian Health Outreach Foundation (AHOF) and the Philippine Cultural Group of Michigan (PCGOM) hosted a capacity crowd concert at Trinity Lutheran Church featuring the Calvin College Oratorio Society, directed by Filipino professor, Dr. Joel Navarro, and the 2008 European Cup Champions, the University of the Philippines Madrigal Singers. Attorney Albert Yu Chang, on behalf of the AHOF board, made mention of all the relief efforts to assist the victims of Typhoon Ondoy which ravaged the Metro Manila area earlier in the month.
Last evening, the PCGOM hosted the first ever Philippine Gala at the JW Marriott International Ballroom. A fashion show of traditional Philippine attire, a dance exhibition by the Pacific Island Dancers & PCGOM Dance Troupe, a speech by Eastern Floral CEO, Bing Goei, and a key note speech by yours truly, made the evening a huge success.
